Heavy duty wind vane with anodized aluminum tail and powder coated nose. Parts are precision laser cut and machined for a high quality instrument. All hardware is is stainless steel or aluminum and is corrosion resistant. The direction is sensed using a custom dual wiper 5k potentiometer with continious rotation and no dead band! Our competitors wind vanes have a 5° or more dead band where direction isn't measured.
Like the anemometer, our wind vane features a convenient RJ-45 jack built into its base. Wiring the wind vane is simply a matter of inserting the end of the patch cord to the Wind Data Logger. Weight is 500 grams (1 lb 1.6 oz).

Assembly of the wind vane is moderately difficult and will take about 45 minutes. We pre-epoxy the bearing in place and include a packet of Loctite 222 thread locker. The RJ-45 connector is soldered to the wind vane potentiometer, so there is no soldering required. You will need Phillips (+) and flat blade screw drivers, an end wrench, and sharp wire cutters.
